''Know Your Worth'' was SSHAI's first healthcare service delivery program.
Yelewata IDP Camp, Makurdi, Benue State, Nigeria.
20 June, 2026.
The program was developed to improve access to health information, clinical/laboratory services, and sickle cell awareness among internally displaced persons residing in the camp.
This program was done in honour of 'World Sickle Cell Day, 2026.'
The Yelewata community in Guma LGA was affected by a major communal violent attack in June 2025, following which survivors sought refuge at a temporary IDP shelter in Makurdi. UNICEF reported that the conditions within the camp included overcrowding, limited water supply, and strained access to basic services, highlighting the health vulnerabilities of camp residents. (Onuoha-Ogwe, 2025, 2026).
